# How Do I Identify Smart Money?

Smart money is not simply a large wallet.

A whale may hold a significant amount of capital without being a skilled trader. Smart money refers more specifically to addresses that demonstrate strong timing, repeatable profitability, informed positioning, or early participation in successful assets.

Ave.ai analyzes wallet activity and labels relevant market participants, including **Smart Money, developers, whales, KOLs, snipers, new wallets, bundled wallets, phishing addresses, and suspected insiders.**

To evaluate a potential smart-money wallet, ask four questions:

Compare its PnL, win rate, volume, and number of trades. Avoid ranking wallets using one metric alone.

Review when the wallet bought relative to the token’s creation time, liquidity growth, and wider market attention.

#### Does it trade independently? <a href="#id-6640" id="id-6640"></a>

Several wallets buying simultaneously may be controlled by the same person or coordinated group. Holder relationships and bundled activity can reveal that apparent confirmation is not always independent demand.

#### Does its behavior match its label? <a href="#id-9603" id="id-9603"></a>

Never follow an address blindly because a platform labels it as Smart Money. Open its profile, inspect its positions, and examine the actual transaction history.
