# Is Ave.ai a DEX?

**Ave.ai is not a single decentralized exchange with its own isolated liquidity pool. It is better described as a multichain DEX aggregator, analytics platform, and on-chain trading and financing interface.**

A traditional DEX typically allows users to swap assets through its own smart contracts or liquidity pools. Ave.ai instead integrates data and trading access from more than 300 decentralized exchanges across many blockchain ecosystems.

This means traders can use Ave.ai to:

1. Compare token markets and liquidity across DEXs.
2. Analyze prices, holders, wallet activity, and security indicators.
3. Connect a wallet or use an Ave.ai trading product.
4. Route or execute an on-chain transaction through supported markets.

Ave.ai therefore sits between a basic DEX and a professional trading terminal. It provides the market-discovery and data tools of platforms such as a DEX screener, while also supporting wallet connections, order execution, automated strategies, and portfolio management.

A more accurate definition would be:

Transactions remain subject to the blockchain, smart contracts, DEX liquidity, and wallets involved in each trade.
